  • Made in Canada Music Celebration

The Grand Event is a sure sign of spring! Back for its 26th year, May 31 at 7:00pm at Port Perry United Church. The talented Choirs of Port Perry United, under the skillful direction of musical director Joan Bretney, are proud to present “Made in Canada”. A showcase of amazing music, that is uniquely Canadian.

The Choir and the Happy Harmonizers (Youth Choir) will share rousing patriotic songs, fun down east toe tappers! Music from your favourite Canadian artists such as Anne Murray, Rita MacNeil, Gordon Lightfoot and The Rankin Family to name a few. Songs from Anne of Green Gables as well. The sanctuary with its wonderful acoustics will once again be filled with a wide variety of music sure to please all ages. The “Grand Event” started in 1999 as a means to raise money for the stunning Grand Piano (which now graces the platform in the sanctuary). The event was so well received it became an annual event and the name Grand Event remained. Be sure to mark May 31st on your calendar. There is no cost to attend, a “free will”offering will be taken. Bring your family friends and neighbours to share in the fun!
