  • Pizza Novas 26th Annual "That's Amore Pizza for Kids"

Pizza Nova launches today its 26th annual That’s Amore Pizza for Kids fundraising campaign in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity of Ontario. Since the campaign’s inception, Pizza Nova has raised over $2.7 million for the Variety community. This year's campaign, under the message of “Dip ‘n Give”, reasserts the company’s commitment to bringing even greater awareness and financial assistance to keeping kids active, engaged, and feeling truly included.

     AMORE 720x405 2025 FINAL

Throughout the month of May, Pizza Nova will donate 50 cents from every dip sold at participating locations to Variety, helping children with disabilities gain access to inclusive sports and recreational programming. This year, for the first time, Pizza Nova introduces a pop-up pizza shop at the Variety Village Café. Every Thursday throughout May, visitors can purchase fresh cheese or pepperoni pizza slices and a selection of delicious dips, with proceeds supporting the campaign.

  • TIFF Ajax Film Circuit presents "Cafe Daughter"

Welcome to the Ajax Film Circuit! Join us for our screening of Café Daughter at the St. Francis Centre for Community, Arts and Culture.

Based on the play of the same name, and inspired by true events, Café Daughter is a coming-of-age story about Yvette Wong, a young Chinese Cree girl in 1960s Saskatchewan, who explores and embraces her Cree identity after the passing of her mother. Her journey to reconnect is further bolstered by Maggie Wolf, a part Mi’kmaq girl, who encourages her to take pride in who she is and where her family comes from. When Yvette’s ancestry is revealed, the attitudes of her fellow students and teachers soon turn to discrimination against her and her dreams of going to medical school. In the face of all of this, Yvette chooses to persevere and succeed. Rooted in the experiences of Dr. Lillian Dyck, Order of Canada, the film’s cast compose a story of inspiration and champion what is possible in overcoming adversity and forging your own path. Concessions and cash bar available.

To view the Café Daughter trailer, please click HERE.

Tickets are only $12/ticket and are available online at ajax.ca/sfc or at the Ajax and McLean Community Centres, the Audley Recreation Centre, at the St. Francis Centre Box Office, or by calling 905-619-2529, ext. 2787 (ARTS)
