  • Snow White featuring DuffleBag Theatre

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the funniest of all?

The "Nearly World Famous" DuffleBag Theatre is, that's who! And they're back again this season with a hilarious rendition of Snow White. The Queen has always been the “fairest in the land” - her Magic Mirror tells her so! But when the Queen hears that Snow White has surpassed her, she'll do whatever it takes to get rid of her - forever! Fortunately, Snow White escapes into the deep, dark woods, where she comes to a tiny cottage. Little does she know that the seven dwarves living there will help save her! Laugh out loud as Snow White and some audience members encounter hapless huntsmen, bad apples and little men with big hearts and short tempers. Will she find her “happily ever after?”

    Concessions available.

Tickets are only $20 and are available at the Ajax and McLean Community Centres, the Audley Recreation Centre, and online at www.ajax.ca/sfc. For more information, call 905-619-2529, ext. 2787 (ARTS), email us at stfranciscentre@ajax.ca, or visit us online at www.ajax.ca/sfc

  • Hansel & Gretel: The Sticky & Sweet Panto

Hansel & Gretel, The Sticky & Sweet Panto

A twisted take on the stickiest fairy tale we could find.

Hansel and Gretel are siblings who are abandoned in a forest, and due to some rather unfortunate navigation, they fall into the hands of a nasty witch who lives in a gingerbread house. With songs you know and love, hilarious characters, and the silliest of stories, this sugar-laden panto will have you rolling in the aisles!

    Who is this show for?
As in past years, the Capitol has performances suitable for both the ‘Naughty’, suitable for a mature audience; and the ‘Nice’, suitable for young audiences and families.

Ok, but what is a Panto?
Pantomime or panto is a holiday theatre tradition of organized chaotic comedy, with slapstick jokes, songs, and dancing. It’s also highly interactive, making it a joyful experience for artists and audiences alike. Pantos are typically based on fairy tales or legends – familiar tales that can be shaped into
    new stories for today.

“Pantos are magical – colourful in style, set and language, and just so much fun. Northumberland county takes holiday celebrations seriously, and the panto has become an annual tradition for many folks in the area. We produce an original panto every year, so you’re going to see and hear something new each time.” ~Capitol Artistic Director Rob Kempson.

    How long is the show?
Run time is approximately 120 minutes.
