  • Mural of the Week "Skae’s Corner"

    Mural of the Week Skae’s Corner


    July 31 to August 7

    by JR Hunter, Matt Whelan, Erin Hackney, Ian Mitchell and Mile Wystoski ~ Artists

    The mural was created by students from O'Neill Collegiate and Vocational Institute, and Monsignor Paul Dwyerand it depicts life at the four corners, 1840 to 1850. Skae’s Corners became the Village of Oshawa in 1842. 
    We are sure that as you wander around downtown Oshawa, you will find some tasty spots for a coffee and lunch, tell them you found them while on the walk.

  • TD Summer Reading Club

    The theme for this year's TD Summer Reading Club (TDSRC) has been announced. Prepare to go on an adventure! The theme for 2025 is Around the World.  TDSRC is Canada’s largest bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, interests, and abilities. It celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators, and stories that inspire kids to explore the fun of reading. 

    Beginning in July, kids can track their reading on Beanstack to earn badges and the chance to win cool prizes.  We're encouraging children to visit our locations once a week to share what they've been reading and collect beads for a reading necklace! 

    Dates to keep in mind

    TDSRC registration begins June 17. Reporting begins July 2 and runs until August 20.

    Hands on Exotics is bringing animals from around the world to the Library for a kick-off celebration!

    Scugog Arts welcomes you to enter a world of wonderful talent and inspiration at our 2025 Annual Juried Show. Juried by Toronto curator Charlotte Hale, Ontario artists from all over the province will bring together their works to celebrate this year’s theme of unity and diversity.   

    While you’re exploring the show, cast your vote for the Viewer’s Choice Award for your favourite artwork and be entered into a draw to win a beautiful mini painting by Celeste Kim.  

    Join us for the opening reception on August 2nd from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. If you can’t make it, the show will be running until September 1st.

  • Steel Magnolias

    Steel Magnolias

    A classic story of friendship, family–and hair.

    Women are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel. This classic play tells the story of Truvy’s in-home beauty parlor and the women who frequent it. As the women confront their own unique challenges, they rely on their friendship to get them through some of the hardships of life: health, family, religion, and relationships.

  • Yoga in the Garden
    Breath deep, take a moment, and do a sun salutationin the summer sun with the Oshawa Museum's Yoga in the Garden, Friday mornings at 9 AM.
     
    Starting June 6 at 9 AM, we're on the mat and ready to flow. Classes are free, drop-in, 1-hour long sessions, with donations to the Oshawa Museum gratefully accepted. The series continues every Friday morning, rain or shine, through September.
     
    All levels of yogis are welcome! Participants are required to bring their own mats, water, and any props that support their practice.
     
    Washrooms are available in Lakeview Park for participants. Not all yogis enjoy pets and animals during their practice. If you bring a pet, they must always be on a short leash.

    Paddles Up for T1D pickleball tournament is a vital fundraiser for The Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre that brings our community together to support our programs. 

    The funds raised from the Paddles Up for T1D tournament support our many valuable programs including:

    -After hours urgent care program for newly diagnosed/ urgent patients
     -On-site A1C blood testing
     -Community outreach and our school education program
     -Insulin pump program for all ages
