  • 2024 Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope Ajax

    It's time to accelerate progress against ovarian cancer! Join the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, the largest and most powerful event of its kind in the country. The Walk is happening in communities across the country in-person and virtually Sunday, September 8, 2024.

    Walk of HopeTogether, let’s make ovarian cancer a priority and fundraise to improve outcomes for Canadians living with and at risk of the disease.

  • 5th Annual Durham Region Children's Business Fair
    Does your child love to make or collect things? If so, he or she can visit us at our upcoming Children's Business Fair, to be held on Sunday September 8th 2024 from 11 am to 2 pm EST at the Grass Park in Brooklin (Whitby).
     
    If your child is interested in selling her toys, crafts, or a good ol' cup of lemonade, then this is the best event to be at to learn how other kidpreneurs do it.     The Caterpillar Chomp Reading Challenge is for children aged 0–12. Track your reading to earn badges and caterpillar chomps. Then come to any Whitby Public Library location to feed your "Official Reading Challenge Leaf" to our very own hungry caterpillars. How much of your leaf will be eaten by the end of the challenge?

  • Ribbons to Remember

    September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Tie a ribbon to honour lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. Ask for a ribbon at the front desk of any Whitby Public Library location or place your own. Starting Monday, September 9.

    Kendal Lions Club 5th Annual Sunflowerfest is Saturday September 14th from 10-2 at 6742 Newtonville Road in Kendal.

     

    They will have live country music, BBQ, Games for kids, Free treats, Vendor Market, Harvent table and a Bake Table.

  • National Day of Service

    Oshawa is hosting a Thank You Card and Poster making activity in honour of Canada's National Day of Service and Ontario's Provincial Day of Service. https://www.serviceday.ca/

    Children, youth, families and friends are invited to make cards and posters to thank police, fire and paramedic workers for their ongoing service in responding to our emergencies. All supplies will be provided. We will also be assembling hero treat bags for first responders and there will be some refreshments for those participating. A photo booth with hats and costumes will be available too.  

    Everyone is welcome to gather in the gym at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,  632 Thornton Rd. N, Oshawa to express our appreciation for the important work and services these first responders provide in our communities.
