  • "Living my Best Life Connected to the Land" by Joanna Malcolm

Scugog Arts presents: ‘Living my Best Life Connected to the Land’ by Joanna Malcolm. This show brings Joanna Malcolm’s eclectic style into conversation with new methods of creating abstract impressions and whimsy. Colour is her muse. In this exploration of emotion through colour, Malcolm highlights her love for nature and the interconnection between healing, nature, and the arts. Joanna Malcolm strives to discover new facets of her style as it shifts and flows with the waves of inspiration that come her way.

This exhibition will open on Saturday, Sept 6 from 1-3 PM at the Scugog Arts Space located at 268 Queen Street, Port Perry, and will run until October 5. Meet the artist, enjoy light refreshments and experience Joanna Malcolm’s work in a bright space full of creative energy!

  • TIFF Ajax Film Circuit presents "Las Tres Sisters"

Join us for the TIFF Ajax Film Circuit at the St. Francis Centre!

Here’s your chance to watch films from the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) without driving into the city, dealing with traffic jams and paying for parking - it’s all right here in Ajax! Film selections include Canadian and foreign made films, contemporary cinema and thought-provoking independent films.

    Las Tres Sisters
Facing the realities of life’s ups and downs, three sisters reunite after years of estrangement, to complete their beloved grandmother’s pilgrimage through rural Mexico. With an old map, no hiking experience, and their lives unravelling around them, the sisters encounter hilarious and touching experiences on the Talpa de Allende trail — that is until a local with a dark past brings them together to reach the miracle that awaits them at the end of the trail.

    Concessions and cash bar available.

Tickets are only $12 and are available at the Ajax and McLean Community Centres, the Audley Recreation Centre, and online at www.ajax.ca/sfc. For more information, call 905-619-2529, ext. 2787 (ARTS), email us at stfranciscentre@ajax.ca, or visit us online at www.ajax.ca/sfc

  • The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents (plus four audience members) vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; four audience volunteers will join them, but one leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.
For Groups of 10 or more, please call the Box Office at 905 723-0282 for a special rate.

For AODA seating, and/or easy access (no steps) call the Box office to purchase.
